Chairman's Report 2008

The aim of the JFA is to support the Pupils and Staff of the John Fisher School through assistance and support in the school and at events as requested by the school and by raising money to purchase additional resources. For example, we have, in the past 3 years provided four Minibuses which are used to help bring boys to school in the morning and to take boys, from every year of the school, on retreat, to sports events, on field trips and music trips and events.

We have helped support a number of ICT projects by supplying resources such as computers, software and whiteboards, for the learning support and Art departments as well as the new Sixth form block and data loggers for the Science department.

We raise the money by holding regular events, our biggest being the annual school fete which is renowned as one of the largest in the South East of England and is held on the 1st Bank Holiday in May each year. We also hold an annual St Patricks Night Event and a bi-annual Summer ball. These regular events are suplemented by different events throughout the year such as quiz nights, dinners and a couple of years ago a very successful "Old Time Music Hall" evening where the never before guessed talents of a number of Teachers, Pupils and parents were laid before an appreciative audience.
